5:00 Although we had set the alarm for 6:00 A.M., none of us are sleeping very well so we decide to get up early and get ready for our drive to Corbett.

6:45 We head down to the lobby and I arrange for us to make an international collect call. We end up calling Emma's family because someone is always home there.

7:10 Gary (our Corbett contact) shows up with his driver, Asho, and we take care of the money business before we depart. He and Asho load up the car (a small Hyundai-like car) and we are off. On the way out of town we drop off Gary who is on his way home.
Asho takes us north out of town and I am amazed, the whole way, by the poor standard of living these people are used to.

From the heart of Delhi all the way to Corbett (~ 267 km) all I see is poverty. Along the journey (about three-quarters of the way there,) we are stopped in a small town where the roads have flooded. Asho arranges for a tractor to pull our car through the water. The water is deep and ends up leaking into the cab of the car. A little further along, in a different town, Asho decides to stop to empty the car of the water. While we are waiting a crowd of sassy school girls tell us that they know we have money and that we should share some of it with them.

13:30 We finally reach the Tiger Tops Lodge (now Infinity Resorts) in Corbett. We can tell right off that they will be taking care of us. The girls are pleased with the room so I am too. After inspecting the room we take off for lunch.

16:30 Our first tour is by Jeep. Not long after we begin our tour we experience our first rain of an Indian monsoon. It pours really hard but it is warm. I get drenched but I love it. The rain forces us to make an early return.

18:30 The girls take a nap while I shower. I'm not sure how safe the water is but at least it is warm. Mmmmmmm...warm. Out of boredom I lay down and also fall asleep.

20:00 We are awakened by a call from the front desk informing us that their movie is about to begin. We fall back asleep again until we receive another call telling us that dinner is being served.

20:30 After finishing the last few minutes of the tiger movie, we eat our dinner and head back to our room. Emma rests. Ember and I go for a walk around the resort and find small frogs all over the place. (They only come out at night, eh?)
