Becoming acquainted with the Dielectric Probe HP85070

1. While using the dielectric probe and network analyzer, remember to always to wear the grounding strap.
2. Turn on the network analyzer (start with the source under the bench, and move up.) You will turn on four “Line/Power” buttons.
3. Connect the dielectric probe to port 1 of the network analyzer.
4. On the network analyzer set the frequency you want be using the start and stop buttons.
5. Turn on the personal computer next to the network analyzer.
6. Click on the “shortcut to HP85070.
7. On the top menu under Calibrate click on Preform cal….
1. follow the instructions for calibration.( You will be asked to leave it to open air, then connect a short, and then to put it in water) It should then ask you to save, click yes and then give it a name.

8. You are now ready to measure you samples. Place the tip of the probe in the sample and click on Measurement on the top menu then select Trigger Measurement (be sure you are ready because it will measure right when you click on Trigger Measurement).
